Aquatic Invasive Species:  The Minneapolis Park Board and the MN DNR will be inspecting all boats for invasive species. Boats and trailers should be drained and washed when they are removed for transport from their home lake to Harriet. Any boat that denies, misses, or fails inspection may be denied participation in the regatta. No coaches’ boats or safety boats from lakes other than Calhoun are permitted. Three safety boats will be available for coaches. No off-lake moorings allowed.

Parking: The parking lot by the boat launch has been reserved for this event with no fee to attendees. Cars and trailers can be parked in that parking lot. Please park cars on the sides and cars with trailers in the middle. Additional parking can be found on Lake Harriet Blvd. The parking lot west of the band shell requires a permit or hourly rates.

BOATS: BYO Optimist

ELIGIBILITY: to be scored for the overall TCYS series, participants must be members of TCYS.

For all 2015 TCYS regattas, a sailor’s age is their age on July 19, 2015. Optimist sailors must be under age 16.

Optimist White Fleet: Age 10 and under

Optimist Blue Fleet: Age 11 and 12

Optimist Red Fleet: Age 13 through 15

Optimist Green Fleet:  Age 15 and under (first year sailors)

An adult advisor, parent, or coach must accompany participants under 18 years of age.

Registration: Please register at the regatta. It will save time if you have a completed entry form and check made out to LHYC.  All boats should register and launch at the shed on the west side of the boat launch. 2015 TCYS Lake Harriet Regatta NOR.docx

Courses:  Opti RWB and Opti Green fleet will each have separate courses.


Optimist                                                 $25.00

TCYS membership fee is $10 if not previously paid. (Make checks to TCYS) No participant will be accepted without entry fee.  Fees are not refundable.

10:00 AM          Racing starts

12:00 Noon        Lunch - provided to competitors and one coach

12:45 PM         Racing resumes

We will attempt to complete 5 races for the day. Competitors should make every effort to rig before the 9:00 AM Skippers’ Meeting. No race will start after 3:00 PM.  Awards will follow the last race.

SCORING: The Low Point Scoring System will be used. If 5 races are completed there will be one throw out. If 4 or fewer races are completed there will be no throw outs.

AWARDS:  Awards will be presented to the top three finishers in all fleets. Participation ribbons will be given to all Green fleet sailors.

RULES:  The regatta will be governed by the 2013-2016 ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), the prescriptions of the United States Sailing Association, the C420 Class Association Rules, the Optimist Class Rules, the Laser Class Rules, Rules of TCYS, this Notice of Race, and the Sailing Instructions. Sailors need not be members of their respective class associations

RISKS:  Sailing is an activity that has an inherent risk of damage and injury.  Competitors in this evenare participating entirely at their own risk.  See RRS 4, Decision to Race.  The race organizers (organizing authority, race committee, protest committee, host club, sponsors, or any other organization or official) will not be responsible for damage to any boat or other property or the injury to any competitor, including death, sustained as a result of participation in this event.  By participating in this event, each competitor, or in the case of minors, each competitor’s parent or guardian agrees to release the race organizers from any and all liability associated with such competitor’s participation in this event to the fullest extent permitted by law.
